If you’re struggling with self-doubt or imposter syndrome at work.
I have something to offer.
Stop taking your thoughts so seriously.
Look, our brains are our biggest asset.
And they're on our side
BUT…
There’s still some crazy s**t going on in there.
Remember, the job your brain takes MOST seriously, is the job of keeping you alive.
So it will say a lot:
So, the important thing to understand is…
Just because you think it, doesn’t make it true.
Your brain may tell you:
But don’t confuse thoughts with truth.
There is no ‘Committee of Truth from the Universe’ that has a direct line into your brain.
Your brain was just offered those thoughts at some point and decided they might be helpful. Maybe they were for a while…
Regardless, they’re not the ‘truth’.
When I’m coaching my clients, we spend a lot of time laughing, because there’s some hilarious, illogical, dramatic things going on in there.
My brain is no exception by the way…
And the more we can laugh at our thoughts - or at least take them less seriously…
The less control they have over us.
And so the more control we have over our results.
Imagine what you’d be able to achieve if you didn’t believe every negative, fear-based, self-doubting thought that crossed your mind!
And the great news is, they don’t need to disappear overnight for you to feel more confident, you just need to stop taking them so seriously.
Not sure who to attribute this quote to…. but it sticks in my mind…
“Lighten up, it’s just life or death.”
